Rave Review: Canada New England with Holland America
Travel advisor, Ashley Curry, recently sent some of her clients on a Canada & New England Cruise with Holland America! Pete and Diane loved their trip and were able to share some great photos and insight into what it was like onboard the Zuiderdam traveling along the East Coast. Although they had some bad weather to start, it didn't stop them from having a great trip! From Quebec, Bar Harbor, Hailfax & more, they spent their time exploring quaint Canadian towns and eating fresh seafood. Keep reading to see what they had to say about their trip and what it was like working with Ashley Curry.
"We enjoyed our cruise very much. We did have Hurricane Lee on our tail. The fog would not give up. 3-4 days of it. Finally, on our last day in Quebec it was sunny and cool. Had a great time on our 5-hour countryside tour. Had to brush up on my French. We got to see the narrow streets (like in Paris) as we drove through Quebec."
"Bar Harbor was beautiful, although the Zuiderdam could not pull up to the dock. We were tendered to the shore. Such a great experience."
"Halifax and Sydney were so much fun. We did a lot of walking around town and shopping. Pete and I went to a Kaylee (Kitchen party with music and dancing). Also tried their oat cakes. Delicious! The music was great and fun to stomp to."
"Prince Edward Island was another beautiful place to visit. There was a food-like terminal where there was a gentleman showing everyone how to open up mussels shells. Pete likes them, but not me!"
"The Zuiderdam was a beautiful ship. So clean and all of the crew was so friendly and helpful. The food was soooo good. We made friends with one of the waiters on the Lido Deck. His name is Dre. He was a wonderful person always ready to help with a smile. Such great service!!!"
"The crew that worked with the cabins were very friendly and ready to help with a smile. Our steward's name was Robby. Always kept our room clean and tidy. Sometimes we couldn't figure out when he would get a chance to come in and clean!"
"Our trip back home went well. The trip from Quebec to Newark was kind of bumpy, especially through the clouds, but we made it. And flying home when it was dark was so pretty with all of the lights."
"Pete and I had a wonderful time! Thank you Ashley for all of your help!"

Dark Sky Week is held every year during the week of the new moon in April, and in 2025, it will be held from April 21-28. This week was created to see the true beauty of the night sky by turning off all unnecessary lights worldwide and raising awareness about light pollution. Dark Sky Week was created by highschooler Jennifer Barlow back in 2003, and is recognized by the International Dark-Sky Association, the American Astronomical Society, the Astronomical League, and Sky & Telescope. Barlow wanted to create this week of observance, because she thought it was important to preserve the way that our ancestors saw the night sky and to get rid of any unnecessary lighting that is preventing us from having the same experience.
