Salem Massachusetts is one of the quintessential places you can visit during the fall. In fact, Salem’s Haunted Happenings is the largest celebration of Halloween in the world! With half a million visitors each year, there’s a ton of Halloween and haunted activities to participate in. Go on a variety of walking tours, see a magic show, get a tarot reading, and even visit a haunted house. One of the most historical and iconic haunted places you can visit is The Witch House. It is the only surviving building with direct ties to the Witch Trials, and it also doubles as a museum. The building is around 400 years old and was home to Johnathan Corwin, the judge who would have the accused come to bear witness inside of the house. Today, tourists come to see the home as it’s an important part of American History, and is said to be haunted. Tours are available to the public during the months of March through November daily from 10am to 5pm. You can expect to see a lot of historical artifacts from life back then, trial history, strange remedies, and maybe even some ghosts!

Starting on October 21st, the French Quarter is transformed into the Fright Quarter with the annual KREWE of Boo celebration. There are Halloween floats, costumes and candy for everyone to celebrate Halloween! Maybe you want to experience something a little spookier though. Also located in the French Quarter, The Museum of Death is the perfect spot for someone who has a morbid curiosity and wants to know about serial killers, the morgue and more. The museum is open daily from 10am to 7pm, so it’s a great place to pop into if you have a few hours to kill. New Orleans also has a plethora of haunted history and ghost tours. Some of the most popular include: New Orleans True Crime Tour, French Quarter Ghosts and Legends or even the Haunted Pub Crawl. If you’re not one for tours though, just walking around the city of New Orleans is spooky in and of itself!

Savannah Georgia may not be the first destination you’d think of being haunted, but it definitely is! In fact, Moon River Brewing was even featured on Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures and Buzzfeed Unsolved. Moon River Brewing originally served as Savannah’s first hotel, first branch of the United States Post Office, and Savannah’s first branch of the Bank of the United States. After going through many changes and being left abandoned for several years, the building was reopened as a bar, Moon River Brewing, in 1999. Today, tourists love visiting Moon River, because it is said to be haunted. Employees say that the building is home to a ghost named Tony, claiming they’ve seen things being knocked off of tables, and guests have even claimed that they have felt their ankles being grabbed. Another haunted highlight of Savannah is their award winning Hearse Ghost Ride Tours. With an intimate eight person guest limit, cruise around the city in a converted open top hearse and learn about the haunted history of Savannah.
