The holiday season is officially here, so that means searching high and low for the perfect gifts for your friends and family. If you’re looking for the perfect holiday gift for your favorite traveler, we’ve got you covered! Here are some of our favorite gift ideas for travel lovers. Happy shopping!
International Snack Boxes: Know a traveler who is also a foodie? An International snack box might be the perfect gift for them! Try the World is one of several different international snack boxes where you can get a box full of snacks and candy from all around the world delivered right to your doorstep. They have options to either send a gift, or sign up for a monthly subscription as well as set your preferences on the countries you're most interested in.
Travel Backpack: Standard backpacks for travel are boring, and packing isn’t as efficient as it is with a Travel Backpack. Target sells a great travel backpack from Open Story that comes in two different sizes: 35L Travel Backpack and the 45L Travel Backpack if you want something a little bigger. The difference between a regular backpack and a travel backpack is that it opens like a suitcase, and not like a standard backpack. Making it easy to pack more and organize your things. I can personally attest to how amazing the 35L bag is after taking it on a two-week Danube river cruise with Amawaterways. I absolutely loved how many souvenirs it could hold on the way back home!
Activity books: A not so obvious travel gift is something to do on those long overnight flights or layovers. Having a coloring or activity book is a life saver when you’re bored and need to kill some time. There are a ton of travel-related coloring books, but my personal favorite is this one from Amazon. Or, get a pocket-sized coloring book to make it even easier to pack like this one! Throw in some cute colored pencils or markers, and you have a great gift for that traveler who's always on a long-haul flight.
Scratch-Off World Map or Pin Map: Want to get something for someone who’s already traveled the world or wants to? Maybe consider getting them a scratch off world map like this one from Amazon. Or a smaller and even more adorable world map pin frame like this one from Etsy! This way that person in your life can keep track of and display their numerous trips around the world!
Travel Journal: Another great gift to give someone who wants to document their travels is a travel journal. There are some great structured ones with fill-in the blanks like this one or this one. But I personally just like a blank journal with a cute travel-themed design like this one! Similarly to the coloring books, throwing in some colorful gel pens would make a great gift!
Portable Luggage Scale: On my last trip I decided to get a portable luggage scale and it was one of the best decisions that I made! I had a lot to pack, especially on the way home. Bringing this little device with me helped me rearrange my suitcase so I didn’t get charged an overweight fee. And these are very inexpensive, so this would make a great additional smaller gift along with something listed above or below.
Belt Bag: Belt bags are essential to traveling nowadays! Seriously, who wants to carry an ugly money belt around all day? A belt bag is much more fashionable and you never have to worry about being pick pocketed. The obvious choice is the Lululemon Belt Bag, but if you want something a little bigger (and a little cheaper) check out the Round Mini Shoulder Bag that I frequently use and love from Uniqlo. Want something even bigger? The Medium Nylon Crescent Bag from Baggu is also great!
Travel Jewelry Case: Traveling with jewelry has always been a hassle; my necklaces get tangled up, and it becomes very cumbersome. Recently though I received a travel jewelry case for my birthday and it was life-changing! Especially as someone who loves to go shopping for more jewelry when on a trip. I had room for multiple rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. It even has a small mirror built in too! Here’s the one I have, but there are several great options out there. Target has a ton of them in different sizes and shapes now too.
Reusable bags: Another good thing to have while traveling are reusable shopping bags. And not just the ones you find at the grocery store; but the ones that are collapsible and are really easy to pack like this Chico Bag. Baggu also makes reusable shopping bags that fold flat and come in really cute patterns and three different sizes. These are great for travel in Europe especially, because you’ll almost always get charged for shopping bags. They’re nice for throwing one in your purse (or belt bag) and always having an extra bag for any souvenir or grocery shopping you might do.
