Venetian Palazzo: Venetian Palazzo: This hotel was at the top of Stacey’s list! The Venetian Palazzo is one of two buildings that make up the Venetian’s property. The resort is designed to resemble the city of Venice, Italy, complete with canals, gondolas, replicas of famous landmarks, and shops. They took advantage of the hotel's many amenities, such as exploring beautiful shops, eating at many award-winning restaurants, enjoying the amenities of Canyon Ranch Spa (located on-premises) and they even got a few hours of sunshine at the pool! You can probably tell why this would be one of her favorite resorts on the strip and her second time staying here.
Neon Museum: Neon Museum: The Neon Museum is a non-profit organization that collects, preserves, and displays iconic Las Vegas signs, which come with a lot of stories and tales of Las Vegas history. They took a guided tour of the Neon Boneyard, an outdoor exhibit featuring more than 200 vintage signs, many restored and still working. The tour guides provided historical context for the signs, which were once part of iconic hotels and businesses in Las Vegas. This was an affordable activity that provided a wonderful evening of stories and fun, a definite highlight!
Cirque Du Soleil: Las Vegas is known for its incredible entertainment options! If you go, make sure not to miss “O”, a Cirque du Soleil show that features high divers and water. This custom-built theater at the Bellagio Hotel features over 80 performers, including synchronized swimmers, divers, acrobats, and aerialists. The theater resembles a European opera house and features a 1.5 million-gallon pool stage where performers walk on water and dive in the water – jaw-dropping. There are several Cirque du Soleil shows currently playing in Las Vegas, including Taiko drums of Mystère, LOVE featuring music from The Beatles and Michael Jackson’s One.
Dining:
You will never run out of options for food in Vegas! They dined at many restaurants in Vegas, including Chica for breakfast, which offers Latin cuisine from popular Chef Lorena Garcia. They also visited the Italian promenade and tried out many restaurants while watching the gondoliers float by. From Michelin Star restaurants to iconic fast food, there’s something for everyone! At the Cosmopolitan Hotel, they had a food area where Nashville’s famous Hattie B’s Hot Chicken presides. They also found California’s iconic In-N-Out Burger at the LINQ promenade, which also had a fun outdoor area with shops and restaurants. Another popular thing to do is a visit to the Coca-Cola Store for a tasting. They sampled 16 different international Coke beverages from around the world. If that’s not your thing though, you can also try the flight of floats!
Shopping:
If you like shopping, Vegas has endless stores to choose from! Vegas has everything from designer boutiques to souvenir shops, so there’s really something for all price points. Major retailers from all over the world have storefronts in Vegas because it’s a tourist hotspot. One of the specialty shops they visited was Nectar Bath Treats, where they make soaps and lotions in the shape of desserts! Even if it’s not within budget, going to window shop at all of the designer stores is also fun!
Hotels: Walking through hotels on the strip is an attraction in itself. Visitors come from all over the world to experience the magnificent hotels in Vegas. One of the most visited hotel hotspots is the Venetian’s entrance just to view the ceiling! It is a beautiful replica of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel in Rome, Italy. When visiting Caesar’s Palace, you can’t miss this Romanesque opulent lobby full of statues, pillars, and the infamous golden fountain. Or try The Wynn Hotel, which has a wonderland of exotic plants, complete with a colorful hot air balloon and merry-go-round made out of vibrant flowers! Want to see live pink flamingos, koi ponds, and ducks? Look no further than the Flamingo Hotel to view these creatures in the Wildlife Habitat. And of course, you can’t miss the Bellagio Fountains! While you’re there, make sure to check out the inside of the entrance, because it’s gorgeous too! Look up and you will see a one-of-a-kind glass Chihuly art exhibit, keep walking and you will enter an atrium of gardens.
Touring:
The next stop was touring all that Las Vegas had to offer - VIP style! This was a true highlight of the trip and the busiest day so far. Stacey and family were picked up at the hotel early in the morning by a comfortable van stocked with snacks. They then visited some of the most famous sights in or near Las Vegas. The first stop was a photo op at the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas Sign.” complete with an Elvis impersonator! Then they went off to Magic Mountain, an attraction located in the Mojave Desert, just outside of Las Vegas. The seven stacked colorful rock formations is an art installation created by Swiss artist, Ugo Rondinone. Definitely a nice place to visit to get out of the city for a while, and to take some amazing photos! Then they went off to Hoover Dam and finally the Grand Canyon. They were able to walk around, climb trails, and see the helicopters going into the Canyon. The highlight of the Grand Canyon though was the Skywalk, an elevated glass walkway jetting 4,000 feet out of the rock!
