“I had the pleasure of attending the best of Britain trip with Trafalgar. We started by having two days in London which included a tour of London’s well-known landmarks including Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Kensington Palace, and of course the London Eye. We also had the pleasure of spending the morning in Windsor which was breathtaking from the gardens to incredible architecture."
“The next morning, we set off to Stonehenge to see this historical landmark. It was a windy day, but the sun decided to make a quick appearance as we approached the landmark. We continued to the city of Bath where we saw the historic Roman baths that many famous monarchs for centuries would have bathed in; as well as the beautiful Abbey which stands in the center of the city of Bath. We were able to enjoy the city of Bath and grab a quick lunch of fish and chips and the little shops it has to offer.”
“For our next stop we went to Cardiff Castle in Wales. The owner lived in 6 weeks out of the year, while he owned it, then decided it was too much upkeep, so the family gifted it to the city of Cardiff. That evening we had a Welsh Experience where we were served a traditional Welsh meal of mint and lamb pie as well as Welsh singers and learned some Welsh sayings (which included some spitting and sore throats the next day).”
“Following the castle, we headed to Liverpool, the home of the Beatles! We saw the club where the famous group was discovered, from the bar they would go to after shows to have a drink. We spent the evening roaming the great streets of Liverpool.”
“Continuing our journey, we made a stop in Manchester to one of the largest Christmas markets in Britain. From the local spirits, to cheese, to gifts, the market was full of great local gifts. We tracked on to the quaint town of York and walked along the famous street of gambling, while discovering the local gin and tea. That evening we had the best dinner at the Be My Guest portion, which is a special treat in a home that had been in a family for 300 years. It was very well preserved with original floors, beautifully painted ceilings and toilets that were almost as old as the house. We were able to enjoy the grounds and the main floor of the house before seating for dinner as a group.”
“On the final day we headed south for our journey back to London. Along the way we stopped in Stratford-Upon-Avon, famous for the birthplace of Shakespeare. We went through the house where Shakespeare was born and spent his childhood. We also were able to stop at his wife’s family cottage on the edge of town. This quaint little town was a great end to the journey.”
