Royal Caribbean Unveils New Galveston Terminal

Last week, Royal Caribbean opened up their new state-of-the-art cruise terminal in Galveston, Texas. Brentwood Travel marketing associate, Rachel Peters was onboard the first sailing from the terminal on the Allure of the Seas. Keep reading to hear more about the terminal and cruise!

Rachel got to check out the cruise line's amazing new terminal in Galveston, Texas, which is one of the most sustainable terminals ever built. This new terminal is 100% solar-powered; the first of its kind in the United States! She was impressed by the modernization of the terminal and check-in process. There is plenty of parking in the lot in front of the terminal. If you are arriving from a Houston airport, you are dropped off right in front of the terminal surrounded by employees who are there to guide you. Royal Caribbean has really streamlined the embarkation and disembarkation process with everything being mobile. Their facial recognition system allowed Rachel to check in and out in under 3 minutes.

From now on, there will always be an Oasis Class ship sailing out of Galveston, meaning endless fun and entertainment for the whole family! The first ship to call this terminal home is Allure of the Seas, the largest in Galveston to date.

Rachel had a wonderful time onboard the ship. Her favorite part was the endless amount of entertainment. They had countless shows including Mamma Mia, a Journey cover band, an a cappella group, an ice skating show, and an acrobatic water performance in the outdoor AquaTheater. Rachel really enjoyed the Mamma Mia show, she said their performers were as good as Broadway actors and the live orchestra was great. There are also endless thrills on every deck like rock climbing, swimming, zip lining, the iconic flowrider, and more! They've been named best in entertainment for a reason.

Rachel was impressed by the amount of dining options on the ship. As a vegetarian, she was worried she may have limitations, but she always had a selection of delicious food to choose from. The main dining room always had at least one vegetarian entrée, along with a wide variety of choices fitting most dietary needs. The kitchen was also accommodating if she wanted to make a change to any dish. Her favorite dish was the pesto primavera and she says you can't skip out on the cheesy bread rolls!

Allure of the Seas has the most bars of any ship, and all are totally unique. They had a champagne, piano, karaoke, Irish, and Latin bar. Rachel's favorite bar was Dazzles, which had a jazz club vibe and an amazing live band every night. And you can't forget to stop at Sorrento's after a late night for some pizza! Rachel also raved about the staff onboard, she said the service was impeccable throughout the whole ship. They were extremely attentive and knowledgeable and met everyone's needs.

Rachel had the opportunity to tour Allure's beautiful accommodations, including the luxurious royal suites. These rooms exceeded her expectations with exclusive amenities, spacious layouts, and breathtaking views. Rachel's favorite room was the AquaTheater suite. There was an amazing view of the theater from the balcony so you can enjoy the performances from the comfort of your room.

The new Galveston terminal is top-notch, and the Allure of the Seas lived up to every expectation Rachel had from an Oasis Class ship. The Allure of the Seas is currently sailing out of Galveston through January 2023. Next in port will be the Harmony of the Seas sailing various Western Caribbean, Bahamas, and CocoCay itineraries.
