“Our trip was amazing!! Canada is so beautiful. Our only hiccup of the trip was our flight from Calgary to Dallas was delayed by a few hours, but besides that everything was smooth sailing. All of our tour guides were excellent and very knowledgeable. They showed us areas of the parks we wouldn’t have seen or known about otherwise. All 3 of the hotels had gorgeous views and delicious food.

We really enjoyed each of the activities that were pre-planned. It was neat getting to walk on the Athabasca glacier and drink some of the glacier water. I think we saw about 10 bears, too many elk to count, a big horned sheep, and a fox! We were expecting the crowds to be bad considering how popular that area is and the time of year we traveled, but once we walked a little bit from the trailheads, the crowds really thinned out. I think our only complaint from the trip is wishing we booked a 10-day trip instead of 7 days! :)

Dark Sky Week is held every year during the week of the new moon in April, and in 2025, it will be held from April 21-28. This week was created to see the true beauty of the night sky by turning off all unnecessary lights worldwide and raising awareness about light pollution. Dark Sky Week was created by highschooler Jennifer Barlow back in 2003, and is recognized by the International Dark-Sky Association, the American Astronomical Society, the Astronomical League, and Sky & Telescope. Barlow wanted to create this week of observance, because she thought it was important to preserve the way that our ancestors saw the night sky and to get rid of any unnecessary lighting that is preventing us from having the same experience.
